Mixtape Postcards

Oh the holidays....which really didn't happen at my house. First up: Christmas. Yeah, everyone in my house was freaking sick. My parents gave me cash, and I shopped for them on the 24th. Christmas Eve was spent wrapping said presents, watching some Christmas movies (The Muppet's Christmas Carol & Elf) and making some cookies seeing as I didn't get a chance to bake ANYTHING else this year. It was a nice and cozy evening, good times were had. On Christmas Day I got to sleep in because we weren't going anywhere (due to aforementioned illness), and after having the best breakfast on the planet (tamales & scrambled eggs) and watching my parents open their gifts, I proceeded to have the laziest day ever. On the TV: Christmas episodes of South Park. On my phone: I managed to finish 'Just Kids' by Patti Smith in one day. I also napped a ton, it was exactly what my sick ass needed. Last up for the holiday season was NYE. Shana and I already had a room down...

Oh what fun, my birthday. I feel weird about my birthday. At my age, my mom had two kids. My grandmother had many more. It's just so weird what that number makes us feel inside. And don't get me started about going out for my birthday.While it’s nice, I don’t enjoy the planning process or worrying if anyone will show up. But you know what, this year was fun. There was not a big group on account of traveling and illness, but fun was definitely had. And there was whiskey….so much whiskey. Shana and I got a room downtown because we were also planning on being downtown for NYE (more on that next time), and then we hit one of our favorite dive bars. There was food, a lot of alcohol, and a very drunk girl named Jasmine. But it was amazing because I got to catch up with some of my favorite people on the planet.
