for a second there i thought you disappeared...

So I guess I'll update by sections, otherwise that post is gonna be hella crazy long and ain't nobody got time for that.

WORK UPDATES

So I finished year 4 at my district, and year 3 at my current school. This coming year is going to be insane and I don't know how prepared I am because I am a creature of habit and change both angers and scares me. Our principal is leaving. That's a huge change. She's still in district, she is now going to be head of transportation (her dream job, who knew) and while I'm so thrilled for her because she is going to KILL at this job, it's going to suck not seeing her everyday. She was always so supportive and believed in me on those days when I was certain I was going to fail. I'm going to miss that. We did meet our new Principal before school was out and like Mary Poppins, she was pretty much everything we asked for, but still. This year is going to be tough, because if shit doesn't go well there is going to be a mass exodus (as tends to happen) and that is going to change the culture of our school in a major way. I'm hoping things go well because, again, creature of habit and I don't want to leave but I totes will.

Speaking of change, we straight up had a teacher walkout in April! Talk about something I had no idea was going to happen. I have a feeling another one will happen around Oct./Nov. near midterms if things don't change. Because y'all, I educate your kids. I make sure they're ready for high school which in turn ensures they're ready for the real world. I'm sorry, but Asst. Gas Station Managers shouldn't make DOUBLE what I make. People with only HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMAS shouldn't make more an hour than I do. Now don't get me wrong, money is not why I do what I do. I fucking LOVE my job and my kids and everyday I feel like I am truly making a difference. But we shouldn't need 3 roommates to survive. I shouldn't have to take the bus because I cannot afford a car/insurance. I shouldn't have to cry at least once a month because I'm stressing on how the hell I'm going to pay my bills. So yeah, how can you help? VOTE FOR CANDIDATES IN 2018 THAT ARE PRO-EDUCATION. It's the only way things are going to change. Also, those candidates should also bring in teachers to help consult because unless you have a background in education, you simply have no clue what we go through on the daily.

Ok, now onto my March Playlist!!! In March I went back to NYC to visit the Brother and his girlfriend. I spent a lot of time in the city exploring because they weren't on Spring Break yet. This mix is divided into thirds. Songs 1-6 are song I was obsessed with. Songs 7-12 are songs about NYC and songs 13-18 were songs by artists/bands from NYC. I'm still jamming out to this one. I highly recommend it. Enjoy!
